You operate a train. The technical work involves controlling the train within its handling characteristics (acceleration, braking, speed restrictions, gradient effects), responding to signaling indications and operational instructions, managing station stops and door operations, and handling abnormal situations from minor incidents through full emergencies.

Driver training programs operated by railway operators, typically combining classroom instruction, simulator training, and route-specific learning. Training lasts months to over a year depending on the operator and the type of operation.
