Every map you have ever used, every property boundary that holds up in court, every building that sits exactly where the drawings said it would, every tunnel bored from two ends that meets in the middle within millimetres, every satellite that knows where it is over the Earth — behind all of it is someone who measured where things actually are and could prove it. Surveying and geospatial work is the discipline that answers one deceptively simple question, over and over, at every scale from a boundary peg to a continent: *where is it, exactly, and how do we know?* The pull at the field level is Discovery. The precise position of a point, a boundary, a seabed, a buried pipe, or a slowly moving structure is genuinely unknown until it is measured, and the surveyor's job is to turn that unknown into a coordinate that everyone downstream — the engineer, the lawyer, the planner, the machine — can trust.

Revelation sits close underneath, because a large part of modern geospatial work is making the invisible visible. A GIS analyst reads patterns in layered spatial data that no single map shows. A remote-sensing specialist pulls flood extent, crop stress, or illegal deforestation out of satellite imagery. A utility surveyor finds the buried cable that isn't on any drawing before an excavator does. The behavioural mode here is the same one that runs through the whole Underground zone: working from indirect evidence to make hidden conditions legible. Where Discovery is "find the position," Revelation is "reveal the thing that was there all along but couldn't be seen."
