The systems that make this possible are some of the largest, oldest, and most underappreciated human achievements — and they are also among the most rapidly changing fields of work in the modern economy. Agriculture is not what most teenagers think it is.

The primary gradient is Creation in its oldest and most literal form: you put a seed in the ground or breed an animal, and months or years later you have food where there was none. The cycle is biological, not industrial — you cannot speed up wheat. The pace of the work is set by photosynthesis, gestation periods, ripening curves, and weather.
